Challenge...Day 2

Ok, so I have worked my tail off today and have managed to get one side of the room in fairly good shape. My first thought is, how many rubber stamps does one person need? And, should I open a store?? I did alot of sorting today and managed to get all my paper put into these neat drawers AND labeled!! I found the top of my table and rearranged the room, so as I'm not staring at the wall when I'm trying to be creative. I decided not to tackle the painting today, as I have company coming tomorrow and that seemed like just more stress than I felt necessary. I am going to paint! Just not this weekend...and I'm leaning toward "sage green." What do you think?? I feel like I made a pretty good dent in my project and I am wiped out!!! I still have the other side of the room to go, but I have plenty of time and I still haven't found a solution to storing the rubber stamps. Any ideas??

Good luck - looks like you're making a lot of progress already.

Re your stamps, I read somewhere (a blog, but I can't remember whose) where someone used shadow boxes to store stamps. The boxes were deep enough to store one layer of stamps, and because the front is clear, you could see what you have. Then, just stack them on a shelf somewhere.

Another option - sort them into categories, then find a storage solution with small drawers (something like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80073304). If you stamp each design onto a card to display on the front, you'd know at a glance just what is inside.

Good luck!

I have an old type tray on the wall with my favorite woodblock mounted rubber stamps. I've also seen them mounted on the wall sitting on those narrow, narrow shelves. I need mine out so I can see them or I forget I have them and don't use them.

I'm impressed! When you get done I have a back room that needs your energy. Sade green is a very calm, warm color that is also great for decorating a room with and a nice warm red is good for creative juices too. Not bright red but a brown-red. I'm here if you need me. You will have to call me-I don't know your schedule or when you have time to work on it. O free as a bird.

I'm jealous of your room - I love to scrapbook but don't have the time!! LOVE the paper storage! I can't wait to see the final product.

hey sis,
well as my wife can tell you I am not much on the organiing thing except when it comes to my workshop. But hey you know me ill add 2 cents where I can...
First off you will have to aquire a new tail through ebay or walmart ...lol ...Lissa says now you will think I am stupid silly... yeah well , we all have our gifts..:)

I like the sage green, any of the ivy greens or evergreens is good. Keep in mind you may want to paint the wall closest to the opposite window a brilliant color bright white or whatever. This would allow for enough base reflectivity in the room for ambient lighting. Definitely would think long and hard about just how dark you truly want it. Remember this is the room where you exemplify your creativity. You want to be able to see what your doing, when working on a project etc. And consider that research shows your mind is stimulated with brighter colored surroundings. We dont lose that as we age. Problably why hospitals and nursing homes strive for the bright colors.
Now as far the rubber stamps. Take the time to organize them well. If you come up with some that just "arent you" or that you simply wont use, theres always EBAY! Ebay the stuff you dont want and reinvest the proceeds into other stamps or items you do want for the project. If you can sell it theres someone on ebay that will buy it. That much is for certain. If you choose to take that route and need some help drop a line and we will git r dun.

A final though on paint. Sticking with earth tones and lighter tone colors is always a safe bet for you girls who love to rearrange and redecorate. My suggestion... Take mal or one of the girlfriends and go to Lowes or Walmart and check out the color swatches find the colors you like and roll with it sis. Good luck . Maybe the 2 cents will help..

I don't know if this will work for you, but Creative Blogs did a post on how one blogger stores her stamps. I think I am going to give it a try, myself. Here is the link:
