February 29 Snow

I think all sickness has finally left our house and since it's a beautiful 73 degrees here in Arkansas, I thought it'd be a great day to share last weeks snow pictures. Hey, it makes sense in my brain! LOL

So, here's the front of our house...we don't get much snow here which explains why the steps would still be covered with snow in this picture. Lucky for the mailman the snow came during the weekend and was pretty much melted away by noon on Monday. Gotta love Arkansas!

Our neighbor's house...just because it was a much prettier view. White house..white snow...cruddy picture! This really was a pretty snow...nearly 8"!!

Little Miss Priss...she loves a photo-op!

I have no idea what Blake is doing....

Ok, so I try again and now Mallorye closes her eyes!!

And this is the best family picture I could get...yes, hubby is taking the picture...and we all need to tan before summer!!! WOW!

Old Man Winter

Old man winter paid a visit to Arkansas last night and left us with a nice covering of the white stuff....ice! The wind blew our patio furniture around and the sky deposited a nice coat of ice on everything.

This was my porch last night as it was still coming down.

And this afternoon, the roads are still slick, but we're starting to thaw out....we're up to 27 degrees!! A heat wave!

I was actually excited to see the ice....because I knew it meant I would be "stuck" at home...and well let's face it, lately that hasn't been happening. So I took the opportunity to put some ornaments on the tree and hang the stockings. I usually go all out for Christmas decorating, but this is as much as I can handle this year. I even managed to get my cards out this week.

And what's that under the tree? Yes! I even got a few presents wrapped. Now, if I could just finish my shopping!!
I'm thinkin' tonight we may sit down as a family and actually play a game! {gasp} Blake has really been wanting to play a board game and I think tonight is the perfect setting.

Snow Day (part 2)

We (or rather I) wanted to make a snowman, but the snow just wouldn't pack. Yesterday it was a nice wet snow, but what fell during the night was just a fine, powdery snow. So, this is the best we could do for a snowman (sorry Rick...we tried!)

Let the games begin!

Blake loves a challenge...

You'd think the cold would wake her up!

Quentin gets revenge on Blake...

Then Mallorye...(I think she's awake now!)

And ME!! All's fair in love and war...

Yes, I'm under all that snow somewhere...guess Quentin is King of the Hill (snow)...

THE END!!! (it's a tradition for us to race the length of the driveway barefoot and as naked as the neighbors allow!...started with my Great Grandpa Horn many years ago telling us kids to run around the house barefoot in the snow to ward off colds) Here's to you grandpa!

We had a blast this morning....laughed and played...followed by a great breakfast!

Snow Day (part 1)

Almost 3 inches!! Woo Hoo!!

The front of our house..Blake preparing for a sneak attack!

Me & Quentin....

Quentin, Mallorye, & Blake...we loved having daddy home for the snow. Last year when we actually got a good snow, he was in Iraq.

Mallorye & Blake...sibling love!

It's Snowing!

Finally, Northeast Arkansas is getting some snow!! The snow started around 9am...actually it started as sleet/snow mix...and by noon it was starting to come down pretty good. The schools started letting out around 10am. This is the view from my desk at work...

Carson brought some snowballs inside and pelted us with them....little stinker!

This is the street behind our house...

And the church next door...

More pictures tomorrow of our SNOW DAY!!

That's It??

Yep! That's it! That is all the snow we got today. Can you see it? Just a dusting on Quentin's truck. I can still see grass and the roads are clear. Aargh!

Arkansas weather is so finicky....yesterday the temperature was in the mid-70's, preceded by an absolute gorgeous weekend that made me just beg for spring. Today? Low 30's and snow, but we never get a real snow. I woke up this morning to check the weather and every county around us had snow....every school around was closed...and we had...rain/snow mix and hardly any accumulation! If it's going to be frigid temps can we at least have a good snow??! Something I can build a snowman with and sled down the driveway on a cardboard box? Even my mom, who lives less than an hour away, had about 4 inches of snow that just beckoned to come and play. Not fair I tell ya, not fair at all!!
